Last July 15, 2011 was the opening of Cinemalaya 2011. It was my first time to attend and participate in Cinemalaya. And it's been years since I last stepped at Cultural Center of the Philippines. We went there ahead of time. The first celebrities I've seen roaming around there is the Fernandezes. Both of them looks good but the younger one is much charming. We went to the gallery and saw great pictures and artworks there. I've been hearing a lot about indie films and I've seen some of them on TV. I appreciate indie films because it has something that differs it from main stream movies. My experience that Cinemalaya week was irreplaceable <3 After watching Bahay Bata with my Mom, I wanted to have a movie marathon, like seriously :( But sadly I didn't accomplished that. I watched 2 films, Bahay Bata and Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa.

Bahay Bata was directed by: Eduardo Roy Jr. and Jerome Zamora
Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa was directed by: Alvin B. Yapan and Alemberg Ang

Truly it was worth it. I also saw Director Joel Lamangan and Ricky Davao. One unforgettable experience from the opening was that Ms. Gretchen Barreto smiled at me and my blockmate Quinlin Roxas ;) My heart skipped a beat that time. After the opening remarks in the assigned hall, we went inside the theater to watch Maskara. It was directed by Laurice Guillen and it was about his beloved husband who passed away not that long ago, Mr. Johnny Delgado. I wasn't able to finish the film because my Mom was already waiting for me outside.  But as what I've watched, Johnny Delgado has been a great influence in everyone he worked with. In this event I have proved that a lot of  people are still passionate in making and watching independent films. Together with my fellow Scholasticans, we really really enjoyed participating in this year's Cinemalaya. We look forward for the next Cinemalaya :)
