Independent Film and Mainstream :)

The mainstream film were once a huge hit in town, leaving the independent film unnoticed. However, as the years evolved, changes started to take charge. And now, we could see that the mainstream are starting to fall down giving way to the rise of independent film industry.
Our group made individual answer explaining the importance of independent media and the learning that mainstream can gain from it.

Independent Film is important because it is the medium used to really show the issues regarding various aspects of life. This is also the field wherein independent film makers are given the chance to show their capabilities.Not just that, Independent films also exercise freedom in their works. You can address any issues in Indie films, and almost all of them pertains to our real life experiences. It is important in the entertainment industry for it expresses what the mainstream are not allowed to show.
Mainstream can gain the art of producing films with more meaning. Independent Film showed mainstream that actors can show different sides of themselves when given different roles and that not all movies which the people will patronize are that of love story and other common plot in mainstream today. Movies can be relevant, can be a trend even if it does not focus on one common theme. It is significant that the mainstream acquire the ways of Independent Films so that they could produce better films someday. Film that would raise awareness, deeper knowledge, without having to look like a total mess in the mob.

One of the cornerstones of our society and the most basic of rights is freedom of speech and the ability to express our individuality. Independent film has become an important outlet for this freedom of expression. Scripts for independent films are meticulously written and have the ability to reflect certain societal struggles and issues. It continuously convey message to the public without taking away from the entertainment aspect of their experience.

For me, people, artists, and filmmakers express themselves more in independent films. I think that the importance of independent film is to provide a wider space for people who are eager to share their innate talent in arts, impart new ideas in filmmaking and other art-related concept, and create artworks that can contribute to our contemporary lifestyle. In independent films, I have observed that everything that is excluded in the mainstream films, such as sex scenes, too much violence, and adult-related concept, can be seen in the indie film because it does not have censorship. I think that they included these so that the story will be told well and for matured people to have a better understanding of what the story is all about.
The people from mainstream media can learn from the independent media practitioners that it is not only the celebrities that are important in making a film, but rather the story and plot is also essential. It does not need to cost so much in production, but the story must have a meaning that will leave the audience thinking even after the show. The problem with the mainstream media is that they do a film or a show and it always end up having a resemblance to another story that an old movie has already used. They seem to have run out of new concepts to make a film because they mainly think about the money or fame they will earn after finishing their film. On the other hand, the indie media help voice out what the marginalized people are experiencing nowadays.

The importance of Independent Films is to make us realize reality which commonly an element of an indie film. It is has deeper meaning rather than the ones we watch on theater in malls. Indie Films are movies that speaks of people or situation in reality that has never been noticed or questioned by anyone.
Mainstream media can learn from Independent Film, having limited sources, low budget and focuses on reality based story.

Independent film is important because some of them are informative and educational which is good for us students. It can be also documentaries which help us students to learn something from reality. Indie films can also help the growth of our economy because it also has tax which used for the construction of roads and buildings.
The mainstream movie can also learn to indie films because for me mainstream has different style or concept to start the movie but they are all have same endings. Indie films is more like reality than mainstream.
