Malayang karanasan noong Cinemalaya
Two weeks ago, I witnessed my first ever experience on Cinemalaya. When my friends and I arrived at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, we were a little early so we roamed around the building.
We went to the exhibits and took pictures of them. I appreciated the artworks of our fellow Filipino artists. I was very proud of what I saw because our artworks can compete to those of the other masterpieces of different countries. After the exhibit, we proceeded to the hall where the set-up for the opening ceremony was.
The seats were limited so we assumed that it was a first-come-first-serve basis; but we were wrong. The seats were prepared for the filmmakers and the other guests who will be participating in the ceremony. There were many people around us and seeing that kind of situation, my friends and I gave way and proceeded to the 3rd floor. From there, we can see everything that was happening below the 1st floor. We were unfortunate because there weren't any seats provided for us but still, we did our best to stand and watch the program patiently. Since we were first-timers, we endured the pain of standing for too long and just took pictures of the event. I saw Gretchen Barretto with Mother Lily Monteverde and other young filmmakers. The place was filled with people who were trying to have a glimpse of the happening.

After hours of watching, the usherettes told us that we can proceed to the main theater so that we can watch Maskara, the opening film. However, when we got inside the theater and were comfortably seating in our chairs, we decided to eat first because we were so hungry from watching the opening ceremony. When we were eating dinner, we forgot about the time and was not able to go back and watch Maskara.
Instead, we just enjoyed the rest of the night with our friends and classmates.
I will never forget my experience in seeing the different exhibits and also the experience of watching the opening ceremony of Cinemalaya.
